Model 2 is the container idea, now on the sketches each of the three containers have their own arch window, but because of the pieces I had, I couldn't do that so there is just one arch per level. But the idea is the same really. I was only able to model one side but then I just mirrored it so you could actually see the intended design. Seeing it in 3D offers a totally different perspective, and really puts forth some of the features like the balconies, which I didn't pay much attention to when it was just on paper.
Drawing over the model, and really putting the building in context has been very helpful. Once again I have to say I really like those balconies, and being that they are somewhat random really adds character to the building. Now obviously for the project to accommodate enough students it would have to be repeated horizontally, which means it takes more land, which can be a problem so I do not know wether this design is the most appropriate. I do however feel like if it was to be repeated along a long stretch of land, it wouldn't be one of those projects that looks weird and monotonous, I think that it would create a nice pattern, and the individual balconies would bring enough variety. But in any case I don't think I'll go any further with this design either, and a big factor that plays in that decision is that it isn't a truly modular design, each level needs to be three containers, you take one away and the building no longer works as well. Access to each level is also something I haven't figured out and I am worried that, that would cause issues.
