One Peg At A Time- The Process

Arrival:

This is the making of, the arrival, this is where all snow sliding enthusiast will arrive after taking the lift. It has 4 main "parts" the base, the rings, the mechanism and the roof. The rings are not only aesthetics but help maintain the top and bottom together.

Pillars:

Again this starts off with the same peg shape, just manipulated differently. I initially took one and mirrored it, but it was too thick and didn't look good, so I chose to kind of merge the two so it would be a bit thiner. Then all I had to do was cut out a cuboid, and create a beam for the rails to go on, so it didn't look as if the rails were floating. These pillars would need to be very sound considering humans would be dangling from it.

Cabins:

I don't have much to say here mainly because this was not made by me, this is an imported design. I chose to do this to save time so I could focus on the structures. Cabins are pretty generic so I didn't feel like they needed to be designed with the peg design.

Station:

Top left is the building of the main structure; the pinched peg design repeated on intervals. On the top left there is also the exit for the cabins. The top right is of the retail spaces. The more rectangular design is for the bigger shops that would offer things like the equipment. The triangular "box" is for the ticket master, and is inspired by old fashion cinemas. Underneath it is the beam that spans the whole length of the building and is there for strength and design.

The Left portion is focused on the staircase to the cabins and the mechanism for the lift. The staircase is very grandiose maybe over the top but I really like it. It looks quite futuristic but it fits in with the design, it shares a lot of the similar shapes. I have to admit I was getting a bit of the recent Bladerunner vibes when making it. The right hand side is the building put together, the beam is placed, so are the windows and all components are put together so you can get an idea of the final building. Some of the difficulty i face here was maintaining the symmetry throughout.

Although quite a long process it was very enjoyable. Making a 3 part design is so cool because you really feel like you are bringing something significant because the design cues are present in so many areas.

The Bladerunner Staircase I mentioned.
