From the get go the colour/material scheme was obvious, The classic Chalet in the mountain is wood, so is the peg. In my mind map I mentioned that the peg is nothing without it's metal, therefore all components that create structure, or purpose in all 3 parts would be steel.
I don't Believe it would have been realist to make the pillars out of wood, so they are steel with a white frame, so there is still that distinctive outline that is present in the two other buildings.
